Vickie's Mom - update

I have some strange, just a little hopeful news. I just got back from Vickie's house. Due to her Dad being so upset and some static on the line from France, there was a miscommunication. Her Mom is in a coma, on life support. Her father was able to give her CPR right away and her heart started again. They won't know till Sunday what the damage to her brain is because they need her heart to be more stable before they can run the tests. Vickie and Chantal couldn't get a flight out until Sunday morning. I apologize for the misinformation, but am glad to have at least a bit of hope for Maryvonne.

Hello All, I'm finally taking a minute to thank you all for your support and emails. It's been such a roller coaster. At 6:48 am this morning my dad called crying. The communication is terrible with France for some reason and has always been. It was difficult to get the broken up info but basically, my dad found my dear mom blue and not breathing. Her heart gave out after weeks of fighting to keep up with a beat of 126 24/7. She was scheduled for heart surgery on Monday but it was not soon enough. We are very lucky that Dad, former firefighter, has good and quick reflexes. He called the rescue and doctor and started cpr immediatly. Apparently, he pumped very hard and managed to get Mom's little pulse back. The rescue and doc didn't think she would make it to the hospital that's 30 minutes away. So Dad called my sis and then me before rushing to the hospital with my aunt. I found out later from my uncle, who stayed put at the house to keep us informed, that she did make it to the hospital, in a coma though. Still broken up communication. Then talked to Dad again. So she's in ICU on life support and we have to wait a minimum of 72hrs before they can see if her brain is still alive. In the meantime, they are keeping her body temperature very low. It is supposed to stimulate the brain somehow and stabilize her vitals. They are not giving us too much hope because her heart can still go again at anytime. If she makes it, there's no way to tell the extend of the damage for another week or so. Dad asked them to do everything they could to keep her until we get there at least. Hopefully Dad will be allowed to see her tomorrow afternoon to tell her we are on the way. I spend all morning trying to find a flight and impossible to get out of here until Sunday morning 7:25am. Chantal and I are scheduled to arrive in Paris Monday morning. From there, a family friend will drive us to the train station. We should arrive Monday afternoon. We are still hoping that she'll fight her way out of this mess. I'll be in touch with Susan and Wayne. Thanks again to you all. We very much appreciate the kind thoughts you've been sending our way.
